Herr Rauch (Mr. Smoke) are honky-tonk performers, bar dancers and speakeasy cavaliers. For the Munich band, the world is a boozer and everyone is its guests. German-language songs are served with intelligent and entertaining stories, that include partly humorous, partly melancholy punchlines – often both at the same time. The whole thing is delivered with an oppressive rhythm section, a rough voice, blaring brass and a good shot of south see rum and slivovitz.
