With their ninth release “NINE”, “Club des Belugas” have once again surpassed themselves and delivered the universal club soundtrack. Since her No. 1 hit in the 2003 club charts, they are traded as one of the most innovative nu jazz combos in the world. Her most recent – and according to her own statement – probably at the same time her last work for the time being, once again underlines her rightly earned icon status.
The release combines modern-electronic with classic-rousing from jazz, soul, swing and funk. But Latin American and Caribbean sounds also fit into the sound of the Belugas in an organic way on the album. To the rhythm of fabulous vocal and instrumental virtuosos, we then dance across the dance floors of the fifties, sixties and seventies to reach the collective party ecstasy in the here and now.
